GOOD PEOPLE. WHO ARE THEY AND WHAT FOR
People often say, "Just being good is not a job". But can the education
system be considered successful if it brings up wonderful professionals, widely skilled people
with a great amount of knowledge, but – without developed values or humanity?
As history shows, the most terrible things in the world were done by people
who were smart and well-educated. They lacked love for people, inner values and orientation.
In short, they were NO GOOD PEOPLE.
Last year, we already said that each and every one of us
has "light" and "dark" sides, something from the "white", and the "black" crows,
that it is important to find and strengthen the best qualities in every one of us.
It is also necessary not to rush and simply condemn everything in the world that seems "bad" to us in the world. Let's better ask ourselves – why is it bad and what shall we do to improve it.
What can be done in education to grow the future citizens of Ukraine
to be GOOD PEOPLE? About this we will talk at this year's national event.

Edcamp is offered at no cost
to attendees. This is a strict condition guaranteeing equality
of opportunities.
Independence
EdCamps do not have "supervisors" from the state
or business sectors. Everyone can express their thoughts freely,
take part in discussions
and defend their opinion.
Free initiative
Everyone can host EdСamp
in their area: any local educational department, school, public organization or informal group
of teachers.
The program is created by participants on the first day
On the first morning
all participants plan the timetable and session topics. Due to
the spontaneity, the schedule
of events meets the needs
of the participants
as much as possible.
Everyone can become a speaker
If you attend an EdСamp, you have the right to speak there. Everyone can share their experience
in the uniting atmosphere.
The "law of two feet"
Attendees find the sessions they want to take part in on their own.
You may “drop out” of irrelevant presentations or those presentations you don’t like.

TREE OF LIFE IN EDUCATION. GROWN IN UKRAINE
The Tree of Life has long been a popular and important symbol for Ukrainians. It represents
the Universe – the lower, the middle (which is the Earth), and the upper worlds; Time – past, present, future; and the Family – ancestors, present generation, descendants. It is cherished and cared
for by Birds – its creators and guards.
We believe that the Tree of Life is the best symbol for education, too: in order to harvest good fruit in the future, a strong and healthy trunk of current work is needed, based on the roots of the best previous experience. And, of course, the "birds" are necessary: the creators and guardians
of development – caring and inspired educators.
Since our own school years, we all remember Taras Shevchenko’s words, "And you shall study
the foreign, but you shall not forget your own". Ukrainian education is open to the world’s best practice, however, we have something to share with the world, too!
The focus of the Fifth National (Un)conference for School Teachers EdCamp Ukraine 2019
is therefore on the best practices in Ukrainian Education.

The Ministry of Education and Science recommends accepting the attendance of the national (un)conference as part of the required advanced training courses.
AFTER-EDCAMP
At the (un)conference we expand our outlook, developing horizontally. This year again you can stay here longer
for a more profound, i.e. vertical, development. Key speakers are inviting
you to one day master-classes.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN EDCAMP UKRAINE 2019
Everything is simple. The main criterion is your motivation for development and willingness
to be responsible! Both young specialists and experienced educators are invited to take part
in the event. The subject you teach, the age of your students, the position you occupy,
and the status of your educational establishment do not affect the results of the contest selection.
We expect a very big contest. Last year the number of applicants was 6 times higher than we could accept participants – so do your best to be persuasive in your application form.

* EdCamp Ukraine is a non-profit initiative of the NGO EdCamp Ukraine. We take care about
the participants, and they will not have to spend money on accommodation, food, pay for education, expert sessions, workshops and educational materials. All these significant costs are sponsored by our supporters – partners of the (un)conference.
** Charity contribution should be donated according to the policy of equal chances: people
who live in Kharkiv / Kharkiv region and do not have transportation expenses donate 450 UAH
to the budget of the program “EdCamp in a Box 5.0” via the Spilnokosht platform to support regional (un)conferences throughout 2019-2020.

VISIT THE NEXT DAY MASTER-CLASSES
FROM THE BILA VORONA LEARNING CENTER
After EdCamp Ukraine 2019, we will ask leading practitioners from other countries to stay
in Kharkiv one day longer to provide Ukrainian educators with opportunities to go deeper into specific topics and refine their skills.
There will be one-day workshops in small groups, which only the participants of the national (un)conference will be able to join.
EduScrum, fundraising at school, oral history and many more options you can choose. You will get the schedule of the After EdCamp with the invitation to the event. For choosing an option we will ask you for a donation on the Spilnokosht platform.
THE LONG TAIL EFFECT
It has been proven that the most interesting things start after EdCamps.
As a result of your communication with many people, new acquaintances as well as new ideas,
are born: this is the so-called long tail effect.
After EdCamp Ukraine 2018, we:
held the First National summit of 2015-2019 Regional Coordinators,
which gathered 140 people,
created The Declaration of Quality Advanced Training Service Providers – containing 50 criteria – and brought together leading educational organizations,
conducted a large-scale testing of 5 anticorruption tools for working with young people, bringing together 540 educators from across the country,
organized an expedition of Ukrainian educators to Tibet and met with the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dalai Lama XIV, whose achievements in Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning have already been implemented,
launched our own magazine about interesting things and trends in education, as well as about the development of the EdCamp movement in Ukraine and in the world,
conducted an anti-discriminatory expertise of textbooks for grades 9, 10 and 2,
as well as several series of trainings for author's groups and expert circles,
thus lowering the percentage of textbooks that do not meet
the requirements of examination down to 2%!
held the Global Dignity Day in Ukraine for the fourth time, engaging 100,000 children and adults from 10,000 schools,
initiated the creation of a national consortium of non-governmental organizations working in the field of continuing education and advanced training,
established the national office of Ukraine EdCamp movement in Kharkiv, –
from a fire extinguisher and a warehouse to our own policies and code of conduct!
